THE E-CUTURE?

With the advent of the mass media, there has been an immense change in the milieu of communication. When any news breaks out in any corner of the world, it reaches us within a few minutes. Within a finger touch we get connected to any part of this globe.
With the advancement of the media, the social, cultural and mental makeup of each and every individual gets affected. Directly or indirectly, we are part of this electronic culture. The role of internet in molding such a culture is indeed commendable. The ambit of internet being such that each and every media are getting transformed by it. The electronic culture creates a virtual reality, the one in which we all like to dwell. From the status of citizen, now we reached the state of netizen.
Everyone who uses any kind of electronic gadget forms part of a larger electronic culture. It is a process of giving and taking. Literally we inhabit the information space. A person, who is zapping through the channels of a television, is giving a feedback. Many of us do not know that while we are zapping through the channels or tuning a radio, we are actually sending a message back to the service providers.  The TRP ratings are the result of this feedback.
Electronic culture which includes the process of giving and taking, made a tremendous change in the education milieu .the concept of class room learning itself is getting outdated. The role of an instructor is reduced to that of a guide. A student with a computer and an internet connection can access contends from any part of the world, whether it be books, articles, journals and even blogs can serve as a space for providing knowledge. The schools in Kerala has facilities for the IT classrooms.
Soon there will be a time when everything will be digitized. We cannot keep ourselves aloof from this reality. But preserving the hitherto culture is also a part of following a new culture.
